New Jersey morgue employee fired for sharing confidential details of Johnny Gaudreau’s death

TRENTON, N.J. (WCMH) — A New Jersey morgue assistant who was working the evening Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed in an apparent drunk driving crash, lost his appeal after he was fired for allegedly sharing confidential details of the incident.

According to documents from the State of New Jersey Civil Service Commission, a Gloucester County morgue assistant and death investigator employed with the Office of the Medical Examiner was fired Sept. 23, 2024, after he reportedly released private information regarding the deaths of the Gaudreau brothers the night they were killed to a group of friends.

Documents state that the celebrity status of the victims and nature of the information, which included the Gaudreau’s names, dates of birth, addresses as well as a first responder’s phone number, led to social media posts and increased phone calls to the State Police from various media sources…
