Cold case: State police seek info on Pa. man’s 1999 killing

Pennsylvania State Police are continuing their investigation into the unsolved killing of Carnell “Poppy” Hooper, who was fatally shot during a struggle with an intruder more than 25 years ago.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Sept. 28, 1999, when an unknown person entered Hooper’s residence in the 100 block of Ash Street in South Coatesville, Chester County.

Hooper struggled with the intruder and was shot during the altercation, resulting in his death.

The Pennsylvania State Police Embreeville Criminal Investigation Unit and the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Investigation Assessment Unit are handling the case…
