Overnight Route 291 Closures Could Trigger Major Delays

TINICUM TWP, PA — Drivers traveling Route 291 (Industrial Highway) in Delaware County should prepare for overnight detours and lane restrictions beginning Tuesday, May 26, as PennDOT crews begin roadway repairs tied to a major bridge replacement project in Tinicum Township.

According to PennDOT, westbound Route 291 (Industrial Highway) will be closed and detoured between east of the Route 291 and Bartram Avenue/Scott Way intersection and Stevens Drive from Tuesday, May 26, through Thursday, May 28 during overnight work hours.

During the closure, drivers will be directed to use Bartram Avenue, Interstate 95 South to Exit 9A (Route 420), and Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue).

Additional overnight lane closures with flagging in both directions are scheduled from Friday, May 29, through Tuesday, June 2 along the same stretch of Route 291…
