A 23-year-old Middltown man has been charged after he allegedly went on a destructive rampage on the Woody’s deck in the early morning hours of May 23.
Restaurant management contacted the Dewey Beach Police Department about 8:40 a.m., May 23, to report extensive damage to the restaurant’s outdoor deck area. Surveillance footage showed Joseph Hoyle entering the business about 2:30 a.m. before casuing significant damage by overturning tables, damaging furnifture and destroying an outdoor television valued at $5,600. Total damages are estimated at $6,140. After the destruction, Hoyle reportedly took a two-hour nap at the door before waking up and leaving the premise at 7:30 a.m.
Witnesses advised police they observed Hoyle on the deck area, but believed he was an employee and did not witness any criminal activity due to the enclosed structure.
