New state law changes who approves development projects in Brunswick County

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – A new state law gives Brunswick County commissioners authority over development decisions.

House Bill 1222 was ratified earlier this month, giving county commissioners power to approve and deny development projects, instead of the county planning board. Brunswick County had been one of the only counties in the state with a planning board overseeing development proposals.
