Public hearing set on proposed flood ordinance changes in Boiling Spring Lakes

BOILING SPRINGS LAKE, N.C. (WECT) – Boiling Spring Lakes commissioners are holding a public hearing on proposed changes that would tighten local flood damage prevention rules beyond state minimums.

The Board of Commissioners will consider a text amendment to Article 11 of the Unified Development Ordinance, which governs flood damage prevention. The proposed updates aim to align the city’s code with the 2026 Model Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance while adding stricter provisions to address local flood-vulnerability issues.

The public hearing will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at City Hall, located at 9 East Boiling Spring Road. Commissioners will consider public feedback during the session and may modify the proposal before potentially adopting the ordinance changes after the hearing closes…
