Neighbors raise concerns on proposed location for Living Hope Day Center

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Under contract and with half its funding secured, Wilmington’s Living Hope Day Center is closing in on a new home, but some downtown neighbors are fighting to block the move.

The shelter, which provides resources for individuals experiencing homelessness, is looking to purchase the vacant former Sorrow Drowner building at the corner of 10th and Dock streets.

Living Hope was previously operating out of First Baptist Church in Wilmington. However, pending renovations at the church forced the center to seek a new, independent location to continue its operations…
