WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Battleship North Carolina will be illuminated in red, white and blue Friday evening in observance of Patriot Day and in remembrance of those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Patriot Day is recognized as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. The day honors the nearly 3,000 people who were killed in the attacks, as well as the first responders who responded to the scenes and the families affected.
The illumination will begin at sunset and will be visible from Wilmington’s Riverwalk, nearby parks and locations across the Cape Fear River…
