52 firearms, liquor still seized during Boiling Spring Lakes investigation

BOILING SPRING LAKES, N.C. (WECT) – Two Boiling Spring Lakes men were arrested last month after a joint investigation by the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement, United States Probation and Parole, and the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, investigators searched the home of 79-year-old Jack Walter Nunnery Jr. on Pine Lake Road on Sept. 30 after receiving a complaint about alleged criminal activity and the manufacture of non-tax-paid liquor.

Authorities said they seized a 30-gallon liquor still, non-tax-paid liquor, 52 firearms, ammunition, materials and components used to make firearms and ammunition. An artillery shell was also found, prompting a response from the SBI bomb squad.

Investigators determined that some of the firearms were fully automatic and classified as weapons of mass destruction, according to authorities…
