Inmate who jumped from moving van to flee custody in New Hanover County identified

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – A recently filed warrant details how an inmate broke free from a sheriff’s deputy last month, jumping out of a moving transport vehicle to escape custody.

The warrant, issued Sept. 8 and returned Oct. 9, charges Anthony Michael White, 33, with felony flight/escape.

According to the document, White escaped a Columbus County deputy’s custody on Sept. 3 by jumping out of their transport vehicle while being taken back to the New Hanover County Detention Facility, an escape that happened while the vehicle was inside New Hanover County…
