Misdemeanor charges have been brought against Gary Sholar, the owner of Edward Teach Brewery (ETB).
Allegations of misconduct were initially brought against Sholar in a viral Facebook post in December 2023. In the post, a Brunswick County-based musician accused Sholar of misconduct toward a family member and musician, who was performing at Edward Teach Brewery in November when the alleged incident occurred.
In January 2024, a short video clip surfaced, documenting a segment of the alleged altercation.
In the days following, Edward Teach Brewery and its owner filed suit in Brunswick County Superior Court, accusing singer/songwriter Madonna Nash of defamation and of damaging the brewery’s business.
Two self-initiated warrants have been taken out against Scholar, each accusing the brewery owner of two misdemeanors: communicating threats and assault on a female. Sholar has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
Asia Norris and Paige Grant are the complainants listed on the warrants for arrest, issued on Jan. 6. Asia Norris, who also goes by Asia Daye, is the daughter of Madonna Nash.
