WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – As a low pressure system tracks south of the Cape Fear coast, your First Alert Forecast opens with a gradual increase in clouds through Sunday night. For Monday: expect this system to deliver extensive cloudiness, brisk northeast winds gusting up to 30 mph – especially along the coast – plus heavy surf and rough seas. A few patches of light rain will be possible Monday, especially south and west of Wilmington; more significant rain should stay south of the South Carolina state line in this setup. Expect temperatures to stay on the wintry side through the period, including highs in the 50s Sunday, 40s with an option for some 30s inland Sunday night, and highs in the 50s to at most around 60 Monday.
