Man sentenced in 2021 Wilmington murder case

A man charged with murder in 2021 was sentenced in New Hanover County Superior Court on Wednesday.

Adrian Point was sentenced to 24-29 years in jail. On Tuesday, he took a plea deal, pleading guilty to second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Oarmonz Dikal Days.

The minimum 24-year sentence was “a very important number for the victim’s family because Oarmonz was just three days shy of his 24th birthday when he was killed,” said Bradley Matthews, assistant district attorney. “We are happy to get justice for Mr. Days and his family with this plea.”

A ShotSpotter alert indicated six shots fired at North Sixth and Nixon streets on March 12, 2021, at 2:44 p.m. Wilmington police officers arrived at the scene and found Days in critical condition.
