An Oak Island development is poised to build its next phase after officials approved plans for nearly two dozen townhomes.
Last month, the Oak Island Town Council approved a major site plan for Pine Forest Quads — the latest phase of the Pine Forest Oak Island development. The plan proposes 22 townhomes at the corner of Pine Plantation Parkway and Lake Club Circle in the Pine Forest development, which sits just off N.C. 211.
According to Oak Island Planning Director Matthew Kirkland, the new homes are proposed to sit nearby The Landings of Oak Island, an assisted living facility.
The plans outline 22 townhomes organized in five four-townhome buildings and one two-townhome building.
According to the site plans, the 5.34-acre site is currently zoned for planned unit development use and is not located within a special flood hazard area.
There are, however, wetlands on the site. The plans show the existence of 1.54 acres of wetlands on the property, and indicates those wetlands will be protected and no structures will be built there.
