The Oak Island Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. The meeting will be at the Council Chambers, Town Hall, 4601 E. Oak Island Drive, starting at 6 p.m. The public can attend and sign up to comment during the public hearing or general comment period. The meeting agenda is available on the council’s website.
The agenda includes a public hearing on a Special Use Permit for a hotel at 1425 E. Beach Dr. The council will also discuss the Brunswick County Comprehensive Transportation Plan and receive an update from the Environmental Advisory Committee. They will consider a resolution to adopt the transportation plan.
The meeting will also cover administrative reports, which are available on the Town’s website. The Town Manager will provide further reports. Old business items include a proposal for gravel parking in the town’s right-of-way, a resident parking decal program, and changes to the Table of Uses and the Vegetation Ordinance.
New business items include adopting a comprehensive transportation plan for Brunswick County, a request for proposals for a Town Manager search firm, and a contract amendment for pickleball court resurfacing. The council will also discuss a policy for processing ethics complaints against officials, and changes to leases for cell phone equipment on the town’s water towers.
