The Novant Health Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 5K will occur on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in Wilmington. The event will start at 6:30 a.m. at Johnnie Mercers Pier in Wrightsville Beach and end at Riverfront Park around 1:30 p.m. The marathon route will pass by Greenfield Lake. Around 4,000 runners are expected to participate.
Drivers should expect delays and detours due to the race. The race will go down Eastwood Road in the opposite traffic lane to MLK Parkway. For safety, detours and barricades will be set up along the race route. Drivers should familiarize themselves with these changes.
Several road and lane closures will occur in downtown, South Front, and Greenfield Lake. These include parts of Southbound Front St, Red Cross St, Water St, and Walnut St. Other closures will affect Northbound lane of Water St, Chestnut St, and Princess St.
More closures will affect Southbound Front St, Westbound Orange St, Church St, Queen St, Northbound Front St, and Front St on ramp to Cape Fear Memorial Bridge/westbound Hwy 74/76.
