When you need medical assistance in North Carolina, it’s important to choose the right hospital. Unfortunately, not all hospitals in the state offer the same level of patient safety.

The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Evaluation

The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit dedicated to patient safety, recently evaluated hospitals nationwide to identify the top-performing and lowest-ranking facilities concerning patient safety.

This evaluation used up to 22 national patient safety measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, along with other supplemental data sources.

North Carolina’s Hospital Rankings

The good news for North Carolina residents is that the state ranks #8 out of all 50 states for patient safety. Additionally, 38 hospitals in the state received an “A” grade for patient safety. However, one hospital received the lowest grade possible, a “D.”
