Eastern North Carolina continues to be impacted by a system exhibiting tropical characteristics approaching from the south. Heavy rain and gusty winds have already begun moving into the Crystal Coast, with rainfall totals expected to reach 2-4 inches for much of the region and 5-7 inches in localized areas south and west of Highway 70. Flash flooding is a major concern, particularly in low-lying areas. Coastal flooding, worsened by high tides, may reach up to 3 feet above ground level.
