Owners of a popular Wilmington coffee shop eye retirement with sale of property

The owners of a beloved local coffee shop and restaurant are hoping to retire. Tammy and Juan Pacini, owners of Folks Cafe, recently announced on social media that their spot at 1201 Princess St. in Wilmington’s Soda Pop District was for sale.

“We wanted to share that we’ve made the difficult decision to sell the property where our café is located,” they wrote in the post. “We deeply value the community and the relationships we’ve built, and this decision wasn’t easy.”

Jeff Hovis with Intracoastal Realty Corporation said there’s already been a lot of interest in the property. In the meantime, the cafe has been open, aside from some recent illness in the Pacini family.

“Folks Cafe is in a great area,” Hovis said. “It could be a similar business, but there are also countless other possible uses.”

While the Folks Cafe business remains separate from the property sale, Hovis did say that retirement was a goal for the Pacinis. He added that there’s also a possibility the coffee bean roastery part of the business, which Juan Pacini oversees, could continue elsewhere.
