WILMINGTON, N.C. (WNCN) — Flooding continued on the North Carolina coast for the third straight day Sunday — with a coastal flood warning along the Outer Banks and in Wilmington.
The flooding comes just after an unnamed system dumped nearly two feet of rain in areas of the coast in Carolina Beach near Wilmington and in several areas of Brunswick County.
Already Sunday, flooding was underway in downtown Wilmington, according to the National Weather Service.
In downtown Wilmington, much of Water Street from Orange Street to Red Cross Street is flooded Sunday. The lowest portions of Water Street between Princess and Orange Streets are impassable, the National Weather Service said.

At the Outer Banks — where high surf knocked two homes into the sea on Friday — flooding in some areas continued on Sunday. On Saturday, N.C. 12 was flooded by high surf and ocean overwash.
