A slam-packed weekend for Wilmington events, and nightlife comes to Castle Street

Welcome to the weekly Port City Life newsletter brought to you by me, StarNews reporter John Staton.

I went over to Castle Street last night to see Wilmington band Tercel crush the inaugural Tiny Caffe show at Luna Caffe. Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk concert, it’s going to be a monthly showcase for Wilmington bands.

The show was great, but it was also great to see a little nightlife coming to Castle Street. Crowds also gathered at Lil CBD at Fourth and Castle and at Sip N Chill next to Luna, and there were even a few people at the new mini-golf bar at Sixth and Castle.

With hundreds of new residential units coming to Castle Street, the nightlife is only going to pick up, so stay tuned.

Weekend weather outlook

It should be decent weather for Riverfest in Wilmington, with partly cloudy skies, a slight chance of rain, highs in the low 80s and lows in the mid 60s. We’ll take it!

Happy Riverfest weekend, everyone.

It’s an absolutely slam-packed entertainment calendar , because in addition to Riverfest, which is downtown Wilmington’s biggest fall festival, there’s also Fire In the Pines at Halyburton Park, Bark in the Park at Wrightsville Beach and Pets in the Park at Carolina Beach.
