Brunswick County commissioners approved a motion Monday night to rezone Southport’s former extra-territorial jurisdiction into a handful of new zoning districts. Commissioners accepted planning staff’s rezoning recommendation for the ETJ minus one property that was tabled for consideration until next month’s meeting. The new rezoning designations passed by commissioners for properties in the ETJ include R-7500 (Medium Density Residential); R-6000 (High-Density Residential); SBR-6000 (High Density Site Built Residential); MR-3200 (Multifamily Residential); NC (Neighborhood Commercial); CLD (Commercial Low Density); CLDCZ (Commercial Low Density Conditional District); IG (Industrial General); RR (Rural Residential); and CP (Conservation and Protection).
