I’m writing this a few days before the election, blissfully aware of whatever has befallen us.
AND SO, as we barrel headlong to Thanksgiving, I am happy report this weekend in Wilmington is packed with high-quality entertainment, from incisive plays and classical music to crowd-pleasing festivals, edgy comedy and salty country music. Let’s get it going on.

Festival Latino
Nov. 9-10 at Ogden Park : This year’s Wilmington celebration of Latino culture is the 23rd annual. The family-friendly affair features food from all over Latin America, crafts, vendors, live music and dancing, and more. 11 a.m. gates Nov. 9-10, entry is free.
‘The Thanksgiving Play’
Nov. 7-17 at Thalian Hall (studio theater) : Satirical play by Native American writer Larissa FastHorse makes its Wilmington debut after an acclaimed Broadway run last year. It’s about a group of well-intentioned but tone-deaf teachers who try to figure out how to stage an original school play that honors both Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Month.
