Three Wilmington restaurants will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants series

A Kentucky-based marketing and media company returned to the Wilmington area in late October to film at three local restaurants for its web and social media series. Other local eateries have been featured as a part of America’s Best Restaurants and it’s ABR Roadshow, including a visit in February.

This time, the crew filmed at Hieronymus Seafood, Beer Barrio and Platypus & Gnome. Restaurants can be considered through customer nominations, internal vetting or by restaurant applications. They’re also selected based on customer reviews, menu items, social media presence, and level of community involvement. The restaurants’ finished episodes will premiere on social media and more information can be found on the ABR website. So far, more than 1,500 episodes filmed at independently owned restaurants across the county. Here’s a look at what’s ahead.

Platypus & Gnome

This restaurant, which is now located at 7205 Wrightsville Ave. near Wrightsville Beach, includes a menu featuring burgers, pizza and unique meats. The episode will include an interview with owner Matt Danylec. Among the dishes that could be a part of the episode are the breakfast pizza, a braised elk omelet, and The Game Changer, which is a top-selling pizza that features braised elk, duck salami, bison chorizo and wild boar ham, most of which are made and smoked on site.
