WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Canvassing is underway to certify the results of the 2024 elections. In New Hanover County, a protest filed by attorneys representing Commissioner Dane Scalise was heard before the canvass could begin. The protest alleged that the county Board of Elections violated state law by not counting the absentee ballots before election day.
