Largest container ship to ever dock at Port of Wilmington arrives

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – It was a record-breaking weekend for the Port of Wilmington.

Saturday night, The ZIM Mount Rainier docked at the Port of Wilmington. A spokesperson with the Port says it’s the largest vessel to ever call the port.

The ship can hold more than 15,000 twenty-foot container boxes and is about 1200 feet long. It is powered by liquified gas. It stops at ports along the east coast and Asia, including several ports in China and South Korea…
