HAMPSTEAD, N.C. (WECT) – According to the Health Resources & Services Administration, one in 17 people die every day waiting for an organ transplant, with over 100-thousand people on the national waiting list.
One man, Elliott Roberts, of Hampstead, is on the list for a kidney.
“A normal kidney is about the size of your fist,” said Roberts. “With mine, what happens is cysts form all over it. I’ve had a few cysts rupture in the last few years and that’s really painful. I’ve had nurses tell me they would much rather go through labor again than have a cyst rupture.”…
