FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The North Carolina Department of Transportation is studying a highway corridor project that would directly connect Greensboro to Fayetteville.
Currently, the drive between the two cities is nearly two hours and can take longer depending on traffic in the Raleigh area. Experts say a new corridor would eliminate that and shorten the drive by bypassing the Triangle.

According to the NCDOT map, the highway would start near Interstate 85 in Greensboro, connect to Highway 421 heading southeast, connect to Highway 87 in Sanford and connect to Interstate 95 in Fayetteville heading southeast towards the coast.
