Local leaders advocate for free school meals for students during town hall on Friday

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – One in five children is facing hunger right now in North Carolina, according to Feeding America. Even though school lunch is served to students every day.

“Research shows over and over again that students who eat meals in school, do better in school,” said N.C Alliance for Health project manager Alecia Sanders.

The problem for some students is that those meals aren’t free, and not all students have the money to pay for them…
