After city approved 2024 bid, here’s where downtown Wilmington grocery store plans stand

In December 2024, the Wilmington City Council unanimously approved a bid for a set of properties that could eventually become home to a long-anticipated downtown grocery store.

“The city has been after this use for quite some time,” Aubrey Parsley, director of economic development for the city, said at the December 2024 City Council meeting, later adding “It’s no secret that there is a food desert on our … Northside community.”
