WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Great to see you this Friday! Summer officially arrives with the solstice at 10:42 PM but the the seasonal feels are already here. Look for temperatures to regularly ping middle and upper 80s to lower 90s for Friday afternoon, and the weekend.
Daily rain chances will hover in the modest 20-30% range through the period with the best chance of showers each day in the afternoon along the sea breeze boundary. Despite the chances for showers, the weekend should feature plenty of dry time in between for whatever activities you have planned.
Another bout of stressfully hot and dry weather is setting up next week as a heat dome builds to the southeast. Heat index values will easily climb above 100 degrees and may regularly trigger heat alerts from the National Weather Service. Be sure to stay hydrated and cool during these unusually warm times…
