Man rescued by Coast Guard after boat runs aground near Shackleford Banks

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) — The U.S. Coast Guard and National Park Service rescued a mariner after his boat ran aground near Shackleford Banks Monday, June 30, 2025.

Officials said the call came in around 5:30 p.m. from a commercial towing service that a 34-foot trawler had run aground.

A 47-foot lifeboat with crew responded to help the boater. Once on scene, the crew determined they were unable to reach the grounded boat and requested the launch of the 29-foot response boat…
