BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — As fireworks light up the sky this Independence Day, local officials are urging residents to use 911 responsibly and keep emergency lines clear for true emergencies.

In a post on Facebook, Brunswick County reminded the public of when it’s appropriate to call 9-1-1 and when it’s not, especially regarding fireworks-related concerns.

When to Call 9-1-1:

  • You’re reporting fireworks violations
  • Someone is injured or in immediate danger
  • You see a fire or smoke you can’t identify or control
