WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A musical group from Wilmington has reached the quarterfinal round of a nationwide competition and is looking for support to take the next step.
Chris Spratt, Jon Landau and Mark Rudolph make up the alternative power trio called Tripodacus, and they currently stand second in their group of ten performers in a competition called America’s Next Top Hitmaker, where the winners receive $50,000, a write-up in Rolling Stone magazine and a chance to perform at the 2025 Global Citizen Festival in New York City’s Central Park.
“The competition serves two purposes,” said Landau, who plays lead guitar and bass for the band. “One is to give one band or musical artist an opportunity to pursue their dream and make that their living of being a music performer and writer. The other thing is, it’s a fundraiser organization called Global Citizen. They have, I think, contributed $4 billion to fight poverty and homelessness around the world. So it’s for a good cause. What happens is people vote like they do on American Idol, and it’s a popularity contest pretty much.”…
