Cardboard creations make a splash at Oak Island’s ‘Dutchman Dinghy Dash’

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Saturday the Oak Island Police Department held the Dutchman Dinghy Dash at Dutchman Creek Park.

Participants built boats out of cardboard, Duct Tape and glue. Two passengers paddled from the kayak launch to the finish line while many people gathered to watch and cheer them on.

The Oak Island Fire Department and Oak Island Water Rescue had boats in the water ready to assist if needed. They even had a bell for the boaters to ring when they made it to them…
