First Alert Forecast: unsettled at home, watching the tropics

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Through Monday, your First Alert Forecast opens with increasing odds for showers, downpours, and waterspouts; these elements will either drift up from the south or in off the ocean, so keep an eye to those directions and your WECT Weather App as you go about your plans!

In the deep tropics, new storm development is trending a bit more likely with a disturbance called Invest 97-L in the week ahead. Threats to North America from this item, if any, would not likely materialize until next week, at the earliest. The next storm name on the 2025 Atlantic list is Erin.
