First Alert Forecast: intensifying Erin yet days away from critical turn

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Erin will continue to cruise west through the deep tropics through Wednesday night, intensify as a hurricane by Friday, and begin to curve north as it “feels” a ridge break this weekend. While some track models remain outliers, most digital guidance continues to suggest Erin will be able to exploit this break in time to miss the US next week. Your First Alert Weather Team will stay focused on the data and update you from a Carolina perspective; regardless of track details, heavier surf and rip current activity may possibly develop at Cape Fear beaches as soon as this weekend, and they almost certainly will next week.
