WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A man who was arrested after he jumped off the Thomas Rhodes Bridge to escape arrest made his first court appearance on Monday.
According to the investigating officer, 29-year-old Curtis Heskett drove the wrong way on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and hit another car around 2 a.m. on Aug. 24. Police were in pursuit when he got out of his car and started running before jumping off the Thomas Rhodes Bridge.
