$6M in grant funding awarded to nonprofits across New Hanover County

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Endowment has awarded eight nonprofits in New Hanover County a total of $6 million in grant money to go toward youth programs, community safety, access to health services, and more.

According to The Endowment, three of the grants awarded aim to support youth programs and improve community safety. Four of the grants focus on increasing access to essential services, including healthcare, food security programs, and affordable counseling. Additionally, one grant is dedicated to assisting low-income residents impacted by unemployment or underemployment.

“These grants reflect our mission and strategic priorities and align with the types of investments envisioned in our governing documents,” said Sophie Dagenais, Interim President and CEO of The Endowment. “They also incorporate insights from our Community Advisory Council, especially in strengthening the capacity of local nonprofits.
