WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – It’s been five years since Novant Health purchased New Hanover Regional Medical Center for nearly $2 billion, and critics say the deal is hurting the community.
The Five Star Project, a nonprofit founded last year with the goal of improving health care in the Wilmington area—specifically at NHRMC—organized a protest outside the New Hanover County Courthouse on Tuesday afternoon. Dozens of community members frustrated with their quality of care at NHRMC attended, sharing their concerns and holding signs critical of the hospital.
