Locally, Hurricane Floyd might be best remembered not only for the devastation it brought to the region but also in the aftermath how the community rallied together to help neighbors in need.
On the 26th anniversary of Floyd making land in eastern North Carolina, the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources will be unveiling a historical marker near Princeville’s Powell Park. The marker commemorates the storm’s impact on the region, and the unveiling is slated for 11 a.m. Tuesday.
