North Carolina Weather Alert: Coastal Flood Advisory in Wilmington Through Sunday Evening

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Coastal North Carolina residents should prepare for flooding risks and unsettled weather through Sunday evening as a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect.

Rising Tides and Storm Threats

The National Weather Service in Wilmington warns that northeasterly winds up to 20 mph will strengthen overnight, raising water levels along the coast.

Drivers are advised to avoid low-lying areas and U.S. Highway 17, where ponding and roadway flooding may create dangerous travel conditions.

Storms Into Monday

Showers and thunderstorms are likely by late Monday morning, bringing up to half an inch of rain, with higher totals possible in stronger cells.

Localized flooding remains a concern in New Hanover and Brunswick counties, especially during high tide cycles. Emergency officials urge residents to secure outdoor items and remain alert for shifting weather conditions.
