‘Too many people suffer in silence’: Mental health experts share suicide statistics

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – You can find it in pamphlets, you can find it online or even by word of mouth; but the statistics don’t lie.

Just under 50,000 people died by suicide in 2023, according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That’s one death every 11 minutes…
