First Alert Forecast: warm sun for the last weekend of summer

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – High pressure will favor toasty days for the final weekend of summer with highs deep into the 80s through the weekend with slightly cooler temps for the first day of Fall on Monday. Expect plenty of dry time this weekend with slim rain chances for both Saturday and Sunday with a better chance for showers late next week. If you are trying to sneak in some beach time, stay cautious in and around the surf as there is an elevated rip current risk for area beaches.

In the tropics, Gabrielle is likely to gradually strengthen as it lifts toward Bermuda this weekend. A related uptick in surf and rip current risk seems possible this weekend into next week; your First Alert Weather Team will advise, and wect.com/hurricane always has you covered in any case!
