Wilmington man arrested on drug trafficking charges following traffic stop

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Wilmington man has been arrested and charged with drug trafficking after a traffic stop on Friday.

According to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD), officers performed a traffic stop in the 4300 block of Market Street on Sept. 19 at 4:25 p.m. after seeing someone driving without a valid license.

After approaching the car, officers smelled marijuana. They searched the car and found marijuana, plastic baggies, and a digital scale, stated WPD.

WPD also reports that the suspect was searched, and 27 small packages of fentanyl, 9 oxycodone tablets, and multiple pressed fentanyl tablets were found…
