Two sea turtle hatchlings to make debut at Fort Fisher aquarium

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher (NCAFF) is inviting the public to watch the release of two loggerhead sea turtles into their aquarium habitat.

According to the aquarium’s website, Percy and Capri, two loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings that did not make the initial journey to the ocean, have been under the aquarium’s care for over a year and are set to make their debut this week. Percy came from a turtle nest in Carolina Beach, and Capri came from a nest in Fort Fisher.

The two turtles will serve as ambassadors for loggerhead turtle conservation. The aquarium says they will be taking the place of Maris and Atlas, two turtles that have now been medically cleared for release into the ocean…
