Suspect dead, deputy injured after shooting in Brunswick County, sheriff’s office says

LELAND, N.C. (WBTW) — A suspect is dead after a deputy-involved shooting in Brunswick County, North Carolina, on Monday morning, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at about 5 a.m. to Mercantile Drive in the Leland area, the sheriff’s office said. During the encounter, a deputy was hit by gunfire and suffered two gunshot wounds.
