WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Live Oak Bank, Plastic Ocean Project (POP), and Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity are planning to plant trees at a new Habitat for Humanity affordable housing location in Wilmington.
The three organizations will plant nine hardwood trees at ‘Haven Place,’ in an initiative they say will “not only add shade and beauty to the neighborhood but also highlight the connection between sustainable growth and community well-being, proving that as Wilmington builds more housing, it can also build greener, healthier spaces for residents.”
The collaboration comes from funds raised by Live Oak Bank through Trees4Trash, a program launched by the POP in 2019 aimed at cleaning up the environment. According to the organization, for every 25 pounds of trash removed, they will plant one hardwood tree…
