WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – As a former Marine, Aaron Culler is accustomed to fighting battles. But as the chief information security director at UNC Wilmington, he’s now on a different battlefront, and so are everyday Americans.
“And the DOD, or now the Department of War, has indicated that the cyber domain was the new domain of warfare,” Culler said. “And so what that means essentially for everyone at home is that the bad guys now are targeting you from a digital landscape perspective.”
That war is being waged on phones, laptops, and even work key cards. Culler said a common way hackers get personal information is through a process called “phishing.”…
