Beach survey work begins Tuesday ahead of Oak Island nourishment project

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Work is set to begin Tuesday on the Pre-Construction Beach Profile Survey, an early step in Oak Island’s upcoming Beach Nourishment Project.

According to the Town of Oak Island, surveying firm Gahagan & Bryant Associates will lead the effort, conducting both land and water operations over the next one to two weeks, weather permitting.

According to town officials, residents and visitors may notice a truck bearing the GBA logo and equipped with GPS gear operating on the beach. A small, clearly marked survey boat will also take hydrographic measurements near the shoreline.
